Himera
Himera (Greek: Ἱμέρα), was a large and important ancient Greek city situated on the north coast of Sicily at the mouth of the river of the same name (the modern Imera Settentrionale), between Panormus (modern Palermo) and Cephaloedium (modern Cefalù).
The ruins are located in the hamlet of Buonfornello, part of the comune of Termini Imerese. The long straight road along the coast that runs through Buonfornello was used for the Targa Florio races until 1977.
Many of its remains can be visited and there are two museums on the site.
