Deep Space : April 2012 Line UP : Francois K & Guests
Deep Space is an adventure into future dub, spacey vibes, and abstract grooves.
It’s the kind of event where sounds of all origins are played, not limited to one particular format but always sharing this common link of dub, whether improvised live at the mixing console or played from original recordings.
We have NO dress code - just an OPEN mind

Raz Mesinai
Bio
Producer, DJ and composer Raz Mesinai (aka Badawi/Sub Dub) is one of the most respected figures in the underground experimental Dub and contemporary music scenes in New York City dating back to the early 90's. He started his obsession with electronic instruments at the age of 10 using answering machine tape recorders, one turntable and a drum machine and at 11 discovered his first Dub record, Burning Spear's Garvey's Ghost, which sparked his interest in experimental studio techniques. After interning in several recording and mastering studios as a teenager Mesinai started the seminal dub duo Sub Dub and release two EP's, Dawazangpo and Babylon Unite.
Since then Mesinai has released over a dozen albums, 12"s and EP's on such diverse labels as the legendary dub, ska and hardcore label ROIR, John Zorn's label Tzadik, SkullDisco, Instinct, Ostgut Nun, Asphodel, the Agriculture, Island Records and recently on his own label, The Index, co-run with Dub War's DJ Dave Q. His music has been remixed by such artists as Shackleton, Kode9, Machinedrum, Headhunter (aka Addison Groove), CardoPusher and Meat Beat Manifesto among others.
Mesinai's contemporary compositions have been performed throughout Europe and the US at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Etna Fest Catania and The Spanish Royal Ballet, with such performers and ensembles as the Kronos Quartet and Maya Beiser, and he has performed his own music live at such festivals as Unsound Festival, Elevate, Etna Festival and Mutek among many others.

SILKIS BIO:
Solomon Rose, more widely known as the London Grime turned Dubstep producer extraordinaire Silkie, is no new jack to the urban music scene. Around 1999 when Silkie was 13 years of age , he started listening to his sister’s Garage collection, then going to underage raves just as the scene was changing to Grime. At 15 he produced his first track called ‘Dark Square’ alongside Harry Craze. At the time Heny G (Rinse FM) released the single even though Silkie was not old enough to even get into the raves that his track was been played in. As he had just turned 18 he was dropped onto the stage of the Kentish Town Forum to support none other than Hip hop stalwarts Mobb Deep. At that time he was producing beats as well as DJing for his brother Silva’s Grime crew Unorthodox. Some of the biggest tracks from this crew such as ‘No-Help or H&-Outs’ was on heavy rotation on the likes of Channel U & pirate radio gathering them an instant following. Silkie honed his skills producing tracks for underground heavy weights in Grime scene however he was already beginning to change his sounds to a more bass driven instrumentals.
Deep Space : April 23rd : Moldy & Greg Wilson
Boston based dubstep dj MOLDY joins UK pioneer & elctro-funk dj/producer Greg Wilson at Deep Space
MOLDY
Boston based dubstep artist Moldy is notorious for mind-bending DJ sets & productions that stay true to the “deep & exploratory drive of the early ...days” (Mixmag, 12/12/2011). A “veteran of American dubstep” (flavorwire.com, 4/19/10) & “New York City dubstep pioneer” (thekronicle.com, 3/3/10), Moldy has been “quietly leading the charge of US dubstep producers since day one”(dubwarnyc.com, 5/29/10)

GREG WILSON
DJ & producer associated with both the early 80’s electro scene in Manchester, & the current disco / re-edit scene, for which he’s gained a global following. He began his career as a club DJ at the age of 15. Wilson was known for playing funk, soul & disco records with residencies in clubs in New Brighton between 1975 & 1980. Greg was instrumental in breaking the new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York, a sound he has dubbed ‘Electro-Funk’.
FYI, if you go to the blurb at the Treehouse link you'll find the following:
"The best gig of his life was at Deep Space in New York City, at Cielo, with FK."
