Starz Plays Vongo Download Service
Posted by Anthems Staff on: Tuesday 3 January 2006

Music Concerts, Movies

Media giants Starz, Sony and Microsoft have joined together to create a new download service for the latest music concerts, movies and other funky content.

Dubbed Vongo (they drink it in the Congo) subscribers will be able to play back video content on PCs, laptops and some handheld devices.

All this for a lovely $9.99 a month. Bargain.

"The obvious targets are young males and early adopters," said Bob Greene, senior vice president advanced services. "But we think this is actually going to appeal to families, because of the fact that you can have three devices per account.

"I can subscribe for $9.95 a month and take movies with me on business trips. My two daughters, who have PCs in their rooms, can have their own account and download movies and watch them in their rooms," he said. "When you look at this as a $10 product, the value proposition is pretty compelling."

And you know once someone says the words "value proposition" it must be a good thing.....
