Posh Clubs Ban Prada Footwear
Posted by Anthems Staff on: Thursday 3 November 2005

Less Bling Bling Too

Hot on the heels (pun intended) of a recent 'Burberry Ban' by Doormen in Leicester, Prada footwear has now been exiled from Manchester's top nightclubs in an attempt to stamp out yob nightclub culture.

The Sugar Lounge, a happening haven for Corrie and Man United stars, posted an urgent letter to members asking them not to wear Prada trainers to the club.

It seems the designer footwear has become synonymous with a certain troublesome clientele, i.e. the ubiquitous chav, which the club is trying to seperate itself from. Despite the £149 price tag, Prada trainers are gracing the feet of unwanted yobs everywhere.

In the letter, The Sugar Lounge explains that: "Due to recent troubles regarding security issues at various venues in Manchester, Sugar Lounge will be enforcing a stricter dress code. This includes: No Sportswear, hooded tops, Prada shoes, scruffy jeans or shoes. Jewellery must be discreet."

What? No bling? Get outta here!

The Sugar Lounge was quick to comment allaying fears of widespread designer descrimination.

"If customers are wearing normal clothes made by Prada," said the Sugar Lounge spokesperson, "then of course there is no problem."

Good to know.

Lose the chavvy footwear, boys and girls, if you want to dance the night away in Manchester....
