AN advert for a nightclub showing a young woman portrayed as a "sexually available" school pupil has been condemned by children’s charities and women’s groups. The poster - used to promote the Old Skool Disco at Revolution - shows the woman wearing school uniform, in a sexual pose, with her underwear clearly visible. One children’s charity said it pandered to the "worst kind of fantasy" while other critics called the poster "tawdry" and "repugnant". However, management at the Lothian Road club say they would not present an image which would degrade children in any way and described the poster as "a fun representation". Scottish-based charity Children First called for members of the public to complain to the nightclub - and then to the police if no action is taken. Revolution is just one of a string of nightclubs across the UK which has latched on to the trend for school disco theme nights. The fad involves adults dressing in school uniforms and dancing the night away to music from the 1980s. Colin Barber, the nightclub’s manager, added: "Our Old Skool Disco night on a Thursday is clearly marked on the poster outside the venue as over-18 only. "The picture shows an adult in a sexy school outfit. I do not think this image could be construed as anything other than a fun representation."
