Mos Def Rap Moan
Posted by Anthems Staff on: Sunday 11 September 2005

Rapper Attacks Bush, Bono

Oh dear. Mos Def isn’t happy with Bush over the response to Hurricane Katrina (surprise, surprise) but the real shocker is his attack on humanitarian Bono from rock/pop group U2.

At least the lyrics in his new song rhyme, but really Mos Def, is there anything that justifies all that crappy rapping in KATRINA KLAP?

First of all, a taste of his rap against Bush, who every musician and actor hates these days:

“Mr President, about that cash/Policy for handling the ni**as and trash/You better off on crack, dead or in jail, or with a gun in Iraq."

Crack, Iraq, Trash – it’s all there. He did miss out Mash, Smash and Hack, however. But at least he managed to squeeze in the obligatory N-word which does wonders for race relations. Ahem.

But the Bono attack, goodness….

"It's enough to make you holler out/Like where the f**k is Sir Bono and his famous friends now?/Don't get it twisted, man, I dig U2/But if you ain't about the ghetto, than f**k you too/Who cares about rock and roll when babies can't eat food?"

Yeah. Good ole Moss Def, releasing his lofty but lousy idealistic benefit album.

All Bono ever did was help negotiate the cutting of over $30 billion in third world debt repayments. How many babies do you think that’s gonna feed Mos? More than the few pennies your album’s gonna to produce.

We think Def needs to hitchhike back to planet Earth...
