More Drug News: Ecstasy, the designer drug of the dance club set, can cause irreversible brain damage and cocaine can increase the risk of heart attacks by promoting blood clots, researchers said on Wednesday.
Even weekend, or recreational use of the drugs, is dangerous and could be life-threatening.

"People who have used ecstasy recreationally over some months or a few years seem to develop lasting, cognitive impairment," Dr Euophosyne Gouzoulis-Mayfrank said in a telephone interview.
