Ukrainian born college student Anthony Fedorov took a long overdue leave from Fox's American Idol last night. The latest casualty leaves just three contestants to duke it out for the top spot.

Fedorov's first song, a rendition of Lonestar's "I'm Already There" earned a reserved thumbs up from the judges.

"I've got to give you props," said Randy. "It was good, dawg, it was good."

Paula agreed, but told Anthony he needed to up the stakes and pick songs that challenge him.

Simon winced at what he called a cynical, gooey, syrupy show but said, "On a positive note, you did sing that well. But the show tonight with all the clips, feels like Miss Universe."

Fedorov's second song did not fare so well and, quite probably, earned him a trip out the door.

Anthony ended the night with "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes.

Randy came out with a confusing, "Dude that was good, man. You worked it out."

Paula agreed. "You nailed it."

Simon said "It came over as Woody Allen trying to play Shaft."

The audience agreed with Simon.

The remaining contestants, Bo Brice, Vonzell Solomon and Carrie Underwood, will fly back to their hometowns for a quick visit with family and friends before the finale.
