Okay, so it will happen. The local-paper-esque "The rain failed to dampen the spirits of" news reporting of this weekends Leeds Love Parade....but anyway! The dance party was "hailed" (as in rain?!) a success despite the fact it rained cats, dogs and donkeys......ANANOVA ANNOUNCES:
The first free dance party to be held in Britain has been hailed a success by police. The Leeds Love Parade, organised by BBC Radio 1, passed without serious incident with only a handful of arrests. Police and Leeds City Council chiefs had been concerned about public safety at the parade because of the unpredictability of numbers. Chief Insp Ernie Reynolds, liaison officer at the park, said there had been 10 arrests from drink, drug or public order offences and 29 people were detained in hospital.
