Top DJ Danny Rampling is leaving the dance music business to enter the gastronomic delights of a new restaurant venture. He is due to play his last gig at Turnmills, London this December.

The veteran DJ whose career spans (or should that be spins?) from the dawn of house music through acid house to today wanted a change of direction in life. Well, you're not getting any younger I suppose!

Danny says of the move to food:

"I've always had a real passion for food. Now, instead of creating layers of music, my skills will be converted to layers of flavours - not on a turntable but on a plate.

"It's incredibly demanding, but then from an outside point of view the role of the DJ may look like a piece of cake. The hours are very long in the restaurant world, but they are too in the DJ world because you spend a lot of time in transit and you're working through the night.

"I thrive on creativity and I'm certainly not going to stop dancing. I love music and I'm not going to stop going to Ibiza."

He will be joined at Turnmills by the legendry Frankie Knuckles and Terry Farley plus he has teamed up with Defected Records for a three CD compilation called the Break for Love album with features his favourite tracks since the 1980's…
