Dance music DJ Boy George was arrested on Friday in New York on suspicion of possessing cocaine following a reported burglary at his swanky apartment in the city.

George, whose real name is George O'Dowd, called police on Friday morning saying that his apartment had been broken into and items had been stolen.

When the police arrived they found no evidence of a break-in but did discover small bags of cocaine.

Detective Eric Crisafi said the singer staggered about his apartment, apparently in "a drugged stupor."

The 44-year old nightclub DJ and famous 80's singer was arrested and charged with falsifying a police report and drug possession.

This isn't the first time George has been in trouble over drugs. He was arrested in July 1986 with possession of heroin.
